The lovely Tory Williams stopped by on Friday to take a sneak peek behind the scenes as we prepared for a wedding. It felt like spring in here, with paperwhites, muscari, tulips, garden roses, hyacinth and snapdragons filling the room. Here are some of her amazing images. You can see the full photo shoot on her blog. Thank you Tory! I will post the bouquet and some other details soon. More to come!

Keep a Record
So back in January I had high hopes to make some art. Truth be told - I didn't get very far. Packing, moving, unpacking, meeting, and proposals took over. So I turned to my sketch book for company. I've kept a sketch book of some kind since college. But now it has morphed into more of an inspiration book rather than traditional sketch book. After I gave birth and eventually went back to the desk job I watched my creative internal life slow and shrink. My husband sensed my frustration (bless him) and recommended I get a big book, not worry and just paste whatever inspires me into it. Clippings of home decor, flowers, gardens and art mix with my doodles and collages. One day when the days become longer and my brain has more room to think it will be a treasure trove (I hope). Here I share with you some of it's pages. You should start one today.
I'm sorry I can't properly credit all these images. I've since lost which magazine they came from. I can tell you they are most likely from Domino, British Elle Decor, Australian Vogue Home, Martha Stewart, Real Simple, House Beautiful and various mail order catalogues.

Vibrant
Good morning all. These arrangements were for a special birthday dinner to enhance the ultimate dining experience at the restaurant Per Se. I kid you not you could eat off the kitchen floor, it was that clean and immaculate. The whole place oozed calm and refinement. The order was for a man, so please no roses, not girly and he prefers oranges. I was happy I added some ferns in the end to loosen it up.

My Hero
Fellow flower lovers, I know you will understand. There are so many crazy talented designers working all over this great big globe, many who are working in this country, many many working right here in this insane city. Through the years I've developed flower crushes on many. There are the greats like Constance Spry, Christian Turto and Arielle Chezar who are amazing. Yet, lately I've developed quite possibly my biggest crush yet. Whenever I need a beauty injection I turn to Lewis Miller of LMD Floral Events. Hands down, this man captures it all. His work is complex but not overly fussy. It's extremely artful and studied. Even when it's full of lots of different kinds of flower types it never looks messy. He can do girly girl and manly man to perfection. It's modern and garden inspired at the same time. His container and flower pairings are so inspiring.
Also which I'm sure you know or at least assumed some folks in this biz can be well kinda diva-like (surprised?!). And the word on the street is he is one of the nicest guys around. I actually saw him this morning in the market and blushed. One day I will approach him.
I've posted some clips of my favorite arrangements from him. But I suggest you also check out his event work. Stunning. It's super challenging to create an intimate floral viewing experience when working on such a big scale, yet he pulls it off with ease. I can only dream.

Studio Window
So I totally over bought last weekend. 3 weddings and a couple of deliveries left me reaching for more and more at the market. Oh well, better to have more than less. It's really is such a challenge to buy and stay on budget! Feeling a little out of practice since the fall wedding season ended. The good news is I was able to put together a flower packed window display. My photos do not do it justice. I love love love it.
That's me waving hi!
