Not sure if you heard but Chelsea is getting married today...among 500 of her parent's closest friends. Many other couples are tying the knot today as well. Including the lovely Jessica. Here is her very romantic fragrant bouquet.

Flower Crown
Happy Day, all. Did I ever show you these? I posted awhile ago my images but now Monika has sent me her amazing professional photos. She is part of Frou Frou Foxes Bedtime Stories, a boudoir photography and styling studio. We had a lot of fun making these images happen. I would love to do more of these kind of creative collaborations. I am cooking up some ideas...

As a floral designer I expected to bond with the bride - I mean I'm not THAT old. What I didn't expect was to bond with the mother of the bride. I love meeting the moms. I get kinda teary thinking about how they must feel with their little girl getting married. Every wedding I put myself in the place of the bride and I think "oh I wish I used these flowers for my wedding!!" but now I find myself saying more and more, "oh I wonder what flowers I'll do for Ruby's wedding?" Crazy, the kid is only 4! Watch her elope. (BTW - she wants pink flowers...we've discussed this already). Anyway, I digress...I loved this couple and her folks.
Congratulations and much love and happiness to Lisa and Chris!! See more images of this showstopping wedding on DiBezi Photography blog. (Scroll down to 7.8.10 entry). HEAVEN.

Need some house inspiration? Three different kitchen styles, all super charming. From It's Mary Ruffle.
I have fun and casual flowers to show you from a wedding last week. It included zinnias, dahlias, larkspur, crespia, aslepia, geranium, veronica, roses, grasses and more. It was held at the Dumbo Loft - a great raw space with wonderful warm wooden floors and beams. The caterer was Sage Events which specializes in sustainable, local and seasonal food. They have a terrific restaurant, Sage General Store in LIC where you can sample the yummy goods. It was a true city meets the country affair. The couple were super crafty and hand embossed the name tags and table numbers. Forgive these photos - I really need a new camera! Hope to show you better pictures soon.

Ashfield, Mass
Hello. Back from 3 glorious days visiting dear friends in the Pioneer Valley. Farmer's market meals were prepared and consumed with relish. A miraculous rain storm was witnessed from the wide front porch. My child went feral. Running free in green meadows and swimming at the lake. As drinks flowed it was as if time had not passed among us all. I feel completely restored. Here are some images from their lovely Victorian home.

Calling all Gardeners
Inspired by my blogging buddies, the gardener extraordinaries; Jane, Marie and Webb I decided to take my little patio seriously this year. So, I potted up potato vine, geranium, zinnias, coleus and some other bits of this and that. I shoved it all against the railing and well that's about as far as I got. I need help people!
My neighbor's out of control rose bush is taking over but I am too insecure to start pruning it. Notice the lovely cables running along the top of the fence? Both Time Warner Cable and AT&T have come out numerous times to take a look. They just laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh.
The week we installed our new fence our neighbors on all 4 sides decided to do the same. Now we have a 4 way cluster f*ck of wooden right angles. I had this idea to train something to grow around the top to help soften that corner of the garden. I hope to get to it if it's not too late in the season (?). No idea.
Here is the view looking at our apartment. I found that cute little bench at a thrift store on Court Street. I picked up a really nice passion flower plant at the farmer's market but I still need to re-pot it.

Look!
Here is the yucky side of the garden. All these things need a place to go so they are out of sight! So here it is in all it's glory. One day I will get it together. In the meantime it's a nice little spot to hang out.

Looking for Inspiration
I should be working. I mean I am paying a babysitter now. I will. I promise. But right now I am feeling a little day dreamy. Thinking of art projects, house projects, patio projects and the like.
Excuse the crappy scan job. I could have scanned the whole book really. I love so many of the images. Being With Flowers by Ou Baholyodhin. It was published in 2001. Here are some of my favorites.
LOVE this vase. Love it even more that it's in yellow. Breezy and lively spring time arrangement.
Insanely simple and inexpensive. Spider mums in little glasses. Clean and fresh.
Plants as sculptures. Yesterday morning I swapped out the living room Flor tiles for our bedroom coir rug. Washed the floors, threw make shift slipcovers (white bed sheets) over our moss colored couch and cleared the shelves of knick knacks. It was so damn hot and I needed a fresh interior do over. Now I am thinking of what greens to add. I'm not such a fan of hanging stag horns on the wall but I love this idea of placing them high on an airy plinth. What is your feeling on sunflowers? I've worked with designers who've either loved them by pairing them with blue hydrangea for a French Provencal look or just flat out hated them for being too country. I like the mini ones especially. I think this arrangement with the stems cut short and laid out in a wide shallow bowl looks amazing. It's always about content and placement in the end.
The book is filled with juicy flower close-ups. Pink, red and orange - one of my favorite color combos. Isn't that also the colors of Dunkin Donuts?
The quote is too tiny to read. It says;
"Inside you there is an artist
you do not know about...Say yes
quickly, if you know, if you've
known it from before the beginning
of the universe."
Rumi
SAY YES!!!

Heat Wave
How are you holding up, fellow east coasters? I was up early this morning sussing out the market for a wedding later this week. Even by 7am it was scorching hot out there. After I high tailed it back to leafy Brooklyn, Littlest Pheasant and I hit the sprinklers, napped and then watched a couple of episodes of the original Wonder Woman TV show. Lynda Carter was no joke. Here is one serious little kitty. Stay cool.

Museum Wedding
Ok folks I realize I am bombarding the blog with images from past events lately. I just can't help it! I love seeing how everything comes together when shot by a pro. These super chic images were taken by photographer extraordinaire Jen Huang. The woman is beyond talented. Congratulations to Jessica and Michael xo.
