Through the Looking Glass

We have been reading Alice and Wonderland at bedtime, super trippy. I love these paper cuts by Elista for littlest pheasant's room. Looking forward to seeing Tim Burton's movie version in March.

well hello

When we were little kids, my brothers and I would sneak over to our neighbor's yard and pick their purple crocuses. We got yelled at. If I spot a crocus poking out of anyone's batch of earth I am totally grabbing it. Fair warning. Spring still seems so far away.

Stay Gold

I get Sundance catalogue. I'm not sure why. I've never ordered from them before. This morning I opened it and spied some really pretty jewelry. This is why.

Lovely and Mariefleur

I didn't feel it was my place to add anything on the Haiti devastation. I mean - this is a little design blog, a small voice out there in space. But this article in the NYT today, broke me into a million pieces. And I felt compelled to say - do what you can to help and hug your loved ones tightly.

Brooklyn Museum Trip

It's a cold, clear day as we head out to the museum. Unlike it's flashier big sister The Met, the Brooklyn Museum is quiet and tourist free today. Proudly representing the borough of Kings it stands grandly along Eastern Parkway. Packed with treasures that littlest pheasant is hopping up and down with excitement to see. I love these museum days with her. Just me and my girl looking and pictures and making up stories.
Looking down on the Beaux Arts Court. This is where Lil' Pheasant said she wanted to get married. Because it looks like the palace ballroom from Cinderella. She's right!

Grand chandelier.

Patterned marble (?) floor.

From the exhibition Extended Families. Mylar sculpture by Tara Donovan

My favorite piece in the show "Read Between the Line" by Polly Apfelbaum. I should do a whole post on her delicate work sometime. This piece was a striped sheet that had thin strips of velvet attached in between the lines. Simply said and done.

On the way home. Snacking on crackers on the 2 train.
