A day at the MET

I've been a little late in updating the blog lately. But with summer in full swing I've been taking some time to enjoy it. I had the most wonderful day last week. My girl and I got up early and headed out to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As we climbed the majestic stairs to enter the cool grand lobby, she gasped "oh momma, this is the most beautiful place I've ever seen". Oh yes, just wait until you see all the treasures it holds. Once inside we traveled to Ancient Egypt, Renaissance Italy and saw "real princess rooms" in 18th century France. Nothing restores me like a trip to the MET. You must see the Ellsworth Kelly exhibition of plant drawing. It's sublime, no joke. Now all I want to do is move to the country for a period of time and make drawings. One day, I'll make it happen. Clean and Green

Perfect for summer - A crisp white and green palette with touches of silver. The bride had great taste. She fashioned the seating cards out of simple tags and set on faux moss rocks. Super cute! The venue was at the Bartow Pell Manison in the Bronx. Another amazing hidden NYC gem. Enjoy.

Hey Folks, I've got another wedding to share with you today. Last week we headed over to Liberty State Park to install at the Liberty House - a great venue with amazing views of New York City. We were all holding our breath as we waited for a little rainstorm to pass. But thankfully right before the ceremony started the sky cleared and the most glorious sunset appeared. 

The colors were to include purples, greens and whites. I wanted to do a more color-blocked arrangement so as not to present something too polka dotted. The bride particularly loved green cymbidiums, so I was very happy to include orchids, which I rarely get to use. I was banging my head for a few days trying to imagine how I was going to unite these flowers and colors. I was thrilled to find the healthiest green forsythia foliage. It has this lovely arch and gave a soft green flow to the design. Ferns and orchids go together for me. It makes the arrangement feel more "forest floor" rather than tropical...if that make sense. We were all really thrilled with the final results.

Classic

Another amazing wedding at Skylight One Hanson last weekend. I can't get enough of this venue. Can you believe this was a bank!? Classic whites and greens with lots a twinkly mercury glass. We used Duchess peonies. Which I have to say are super impressive and super massive. I have two extra ones that are sitting on my kitchen table and they just get bigger and bigger. I loved this Chuppah - simple, elegant and so pretty. I'll see you soon - two very different designs happening this weekend.
