Cocktail Hour
Rustic cymbidium orchids, sweet gum leaf, hypericum berry, echinacea, burgundy scabious, fiddle head ferns and peacock feathers for the cocktail tables. I had this wedding design jammed up in my head for weeks. I hemmed and hawed the day I went to the market to purchase my goodies. The peacock feather was the inspiration but I did not want to go emerald green and electric blue. I wanted autumnal and the bride requested some orange. So I went for my favorite cymbidium for the main attraction and was surprised that the sweet gum was the perfect accent. Sometimes making flowers really is like cooking. A little of this and dash of that, all the while keeping the main meal in mind. Okay, I'm rambling now...I have to say I am so happy with how these turned out.

Study in Contrasts
This wedding was a challenge - in a good way. The design direction called for modern fashion-forward seasonal arrangements. I wanted something sculptural, lush and unexpected. These are the bigger centerpieces that included, cafe au lait dahlias, burgundy dahlias, dark purple callas, white kale, blue thistles, some funky eucalyptus and some other bluish pod like thingamajigs. I will look it up and let you know. It was really cool. I will post the cocktail tables next.

Classic Duo

Look at this gorgeous couple! I just received some of the professional photos today. The photographer is Stacy Librandi. It's always so fulfilling to see everything all put together. I love how the orchids in the hair turned out. I guess I can tell the some what harrowing tale of the hair flowers now. I arrive at the hotel with flowers in hand all ready to present my creations to the very calm and glowing bride...but alas the hair flowers were missing! I search the boxes frantically, tracing my steps all the way back to the van. Nothing. Nowhere to be found. I knew I packed them! The wedding coordinator and I are literally on our hands and knees in the lobby searching. We ask the young guy at the front desk if he has seen a small white flower attached to a hair pin. "Oh this?" he says. He points to the hotel's tall front desk arrangement where he has stuck the hair pin at the lip of the vase. "I found this on the counter and thought it fell off", he quips. I could have kissed him.
