The Language of Flowers

So I have been meaning to tell you the scientifically accurate floral industry approved words and terms we use here at DFFD. (ha)

Nodules- the place where the leaf and stem meet

Nubbins - similiar to Nodules
CaCa- dead yucky flower or foliage
Wonky - off kilter
Fug - ugly
Fugalug - even uglier
to "zhuzh" - to fix up and "fluff up" the flowers in the vase
to "want to eat it" - the flowers look good
Delicious - very pretty

That is one delicious arrangement.

At our shop:
PITA (refers to customer who is a pain in the a-- ) just had to deal with one.

So Eighties, when someone wants babies breath in their roses or a fan shaped arrangement

Looks like it could be in a magazine. when someone does something spectacular.

Basura Trash or a trashy arrangement.

Let's not forget "don't fear the gardenia" - in the vein of Blue Oyster Cult's famous tune. Though this only applied to once working with gardenias, it was an amusing phrase of the day...
